Site Specific Policies Development Plan Document
Site Specific Policies Development Plan Document - Adopted January 2010 (pdf format)
What is the Site Specific Policies DPD?
The Local Development Framework contains a number of site specific policies, including allocations for housing and employment development, or safeguarding land for transport infrastructure. Apart from the major developments which have their own Area Action Plans, these site specific policies are detailed in the Site Specific Policies DPD, and are also shown on the Proposals Map.
LATEST NEWS: ADOPTION
The Site Specific Policies DPD was formally adopted on 28 January 2010. This followed the issuing in September 2009 of the final Inspectors Report on the Site Specific Policies DPD, which concludes that the Site Specific Policies DPD is 'sound' subject to a number of binding changes being made.

Background Information
The Council submitted the Site Specific Policies DPD to the Secretary of State in January 2006. Examination hearings to test the 'soundness' of the DPD were held between November 2007 and May 2008.
Following the examination hearings, the Inspectors announced that they had found a shortfall in the dwelling capacity of land allocated in the various DPDs submitted in January 2006. That shortfall amounted to about 2,200 dwellings. The Inspectors asked the Council to assess additional site options to make up the housing shortfall and to put forward its preferred sites for them to consider. The Council sought your views in October - December 2008. Additional examination hearings were held in May and July 2009.
The Inspectors issued in September 2009 their final report on the Site Specific Policies DPD concluding that the Site Specific Policies DPD is 'sound' subject to a number of binding changes being made. The Site Specific Policies DPD was formally adopted on 28 January 2010.
