What are SPDs?

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are intended to expand upon policy or provide further detail to policies in adopted Development Plan Documents (DPDs). When adopted, SPDs form part of the Local Development Framework but do not have development plan status and are not subject to independent examination.

What is the Listed Buildings SPD?

The Listed Buildings SPD expands on district-wide policies included in the Development Control Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) and policies in individual Area Action Plans (AAPs). These policies seek to ensure that Listed Building issues are adequately addressed throughout the development process. The Listed Buildings SPD also builds on the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and Planning Policy Guidance 15: Planning and the Historic Environment.

The Listed Buildings SPD provides broad guidance on Listed Buildings with regards to South Cambridgeshire District Council policies, and therefore it covers general approaches, typical works and when Listed Building Consent is likely to be required.

Latest News on the Listed Buildings SPD

The Council adopted the Listed Buildings SPD on 2 July 2009.

The adopted SPD takes account of any representations received during the six-week period of public consultation undertaken in February - March 2009.
