Independent Examinations of the South Cambridgeshire District Development Plan Documents

This page contains information concerning the Independent Examinations of the South Cambridgeshire Local Development Framework Development Plan Documents.

Once each Development Plan Document (DPD) has been submitted to the Secretary of State, the document is subject to independent scrutiny in the form of an Examination by an independent Planning Inspector to consider whether the DPD is 'sound'. After each Examination, the Inspector writes a report that sets out a list of binding recommendations that must be addressed before the DPD can be adopted.

The Inspectors

The First Secretary of State has appointed two lead Inspectors, Mr Cliff Hughes DipTP MRTPI and Mr Terry Kemmann-Lane JP DipTP FRTPI MCMI to conduct the Examinations.

The Examinations

Before each Examination, a Pre-Examination Meeting (PEM) is held to discuss the procedures, timetable and deadlines for the Examination. This is a public meeting and all with an interest are welcome to attend. For all PEMs, the Programme Officer sends an agenda, guidance notes and minutes of the PEM to all respondents.

Pre-Examination meetings (PEMs) have now been renamed Pre-Hearings meetings (PHMs).
