Proposed eco-town at Hanley Grange

The Government's eco-towns consultation "Eco-towns: Living a greener future" (April 2008) promotes Eco-towns as a means of building more housing and advancing the principles of sustainability through zero-carbon developments.

Hanley Grange near Hinxton in South Cambridgeshire has been identified by the Government as of one the shortlisted locations for an eco-town. A final list of up to 10 locations will be announced later this year.

We have a number of concerns about this proposal and have put these in our response to the government consultation which closed on Monday 30 June. South Cambridgeshire residents were also encouraged to have their say through a leaflet to all households in the area around the proposed site and through South Cambs magazine.

We are now awaiting the results of the consultation which we expect the government to announce in October.
