The Structure Plan

Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council jointly adopted the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan 2003 (This link will open in a new window) on 22nd October 2003.

The Plan gives strategic guidance on housing provision, employment, the countryside and other land uses for the period 2001-2016.

The Structure Plan also provides the framework for the district Council's preparation of detailed Local Development Frameworks or Local Plans. Under the Government's new planning legislation the Structure Plan will eventually be superseded by the Regional Spatial Strategy when it is adopted.

The East of England Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) will replace the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan when it is published in its final form by the Secretary of State. A number of Structure Plan policies will be 'saved', and remain valid until at least 28th September 2007, under the transitional provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
