Planning Applications

The Council receives some 2500 planning applications each year, dealt with largely by two area-based planning teams. Applications may be for building and engineering works, changes of use of a building or land, display of advertisements, alterations to Listed Buildings, and demolition of buildings in Conservation Areas.

The planning process involves the determination of applications, ranging from house extensions to bigger residential developments.

Internal alterations to a building and certain minor works, including small extensions to houses, can be carried out without planning permission, however advice should be sought from the Development Services team.

Viewing and commenting on planning applications

Aside from our online planning application search facility (This link will open in a new window) you may also inspect a planning application locally, by appointment with the Clerk or Chairman of your Parish Council (or meeting) or at the Planning Service, which is located within our Cambourne Headquarters, between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am and 4.00pm on Friday. Telephone 03450 455 216.

Comments must be made in writing, either via the online comments facility (This link will open in a new window), or by post, and be received within the consultation period that is indicated for each application. Failure to do so may mean that your representation cannot be taken into account.
