Planning applications

The planning process involves the determination of applications, ranging from house extensions to bigger residential developments. Applications can be determined by officers under delegated powers, or by Committee.

Smaller applications have a target of 8 weeks within which to determine them by, and larger ones within 13 weeks from the date of submission. In that time the Council will also consult a number of other agencies to help determine the application.

Viewing and Commenting on Planning Applications

Aside from our online planning application search facility (This link will open in a new window)you may also inspect a planning application locally, by appointment with the Clerk or Chairman of your Parish Council (or meeting) or at the Planning Service, which is located within our Cambourne Headquarters, between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am and 4.00pm on Friday. Telephone 08450 455 216.

Any comments you may wish to make should be in writing and received within the consultation period that is indicated for each application, although the Council will endeavour to take into account any representations received up to the date it makes a decision. A decision on applications will only be made at the end of the consultation period after taking into account all material representations made within that period. Your comments will be attached to the work file and hence will be available for public inspection.

Alterations and amendments may be made a planning application and, unfortunately, it may not be possible for the Council to keep you advised of any changes. If you wish to keep yourself up-to-date on changes you may do so either by regularly checking the online search facility, visiting the offices or keeping in touch with your Parish Council, which is informed of significant changes. The Council cannot accept responsibility for failure to keep you informed as to progress of the application.

Please note that persons will only be notified of any decision and/or subsequent appeal if you write in connection with an application. If an application results in an appeal, copies of representations will be sent to the Planning Inspectorate and the applicant.
