Food Team Safety Service Plan
The Food Safety Service Plan for 2008/09 was drawn up in line with the requirements of the Food Standards Agency Framework Agreement.
It sets out how regular inspections, food sampling and advice by the council's food safety team helps to ensure whenever people eat and drink out and about in South Cambridgeshire they can be assured of a clean and healthy environment.
We use a balance of techniques and approaches to provide the necessary services, including enforcement through the inspection programme, sampling of food, investigation of food complaints, training and education campaigns. We train businesses in running safe and hygienic premises through a scheme called Safer Food Better Business and encourage good food hygiene through a hygiene score rating system called Scores on the Doors.
The Plan includes information about how the service is provided and the how performance indicators are met and reviewed.
Enforcement Policy
Our Enforcement Policy is an expression of our Environmental Health Food Team's commitment to the development of safe, good quality food being available at food businesses throughout the district.
The current Enforcement Policy ensures fair, practical and consistent enforcement across the district and gives a commitment to ensure best practice in enforcement activities. This policy lays out the principles to be adopted by Officers exercising any enforcement function within Environmental Health.
