historic buildings grants

The District Council may award, at its discretion, grants towards the repair of certain historic buildings in South Cambridgeshire. These grants may be awarded to help offset the cost of using traditional materials or employing a higher standard of craftsmanship. In other words, it is the work required to preserve the historic or architectural interest of a property which may be eligible for grant aid.

Minor repair work, general maintenance and redecoration are not considered eligible. The use of modern materials such as fibre cement slate or concrete tiles will not receive grant aid and their use on listed buildings will require listed building consent. The Council will not normally grant aid second homes, even if they are rented out to tenants.

The following leaflet explains the Council's policy in greater detail. Please read it before submitting your application.

Please note: Due to budget cuts there is less funding available for grants than in previous years and the amount of grant aid offered on any project is therefore likely to be reduced.
