Paying your Council Tax / Business Rates

Direct debit

If you are already paying by direct Debit you need take no further action, as your payments will be collected in accordance with the schedule shown on your bill. If you wish to pay by direct debit, contact the council tax office.

Debit card

If you have a Debit Card, payment can be made using the Council's 24-hour hotline. To use this method telephone:

Please have your Debit Card details, Council Tax reference number and the amount you would like to pay ready. The Council does not accept payments via a credit card.

By post

Cheques or Postal Orders may be sent through the post to this address. Cheques should be made payable to South Cambridgeshire District Council. When posting your payment please allow sufficient time for delivery. Payment must reach the Council by the instalment due dates shown on your bill. The Council cannot accept post-dated cheques. Please ensure that you quote your council tax reference number with all payments. A receipt will only be sent if requested and if a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed for that purpose.

Personal payment

As of the 1st of April 2006 there is no longer a Payment Office at Cambourne. Payments may be made at the offices of Cambridge City Council, 4 Regent Street, Cambridge from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm on Friday.

At the Post Office

You will need a plastic payment card to make payments at the Post Office. No charge is made for this service, which is only currently available to Council Tax and Rent payers. Contact the council tax office if you would like a card. Until a card arrives, payment may be made by Transcash quoting your Council Tax reference and our Giro Account number 243 7031. A charge is payable for the Transcash service. If you wish to pay Business Rates by Transcash the Giro Account number is also 243 7031.

Other methods

If you wish to pay by telephone, Internet Banking, Standing Order, or at a bank or building society, please quote your reference number. The bank details required are as follows:
