Paying your Council Tax / Business Rates

Direct debit

If you wish to pay by direct debit, you can download the Council Tax - Direct Debit Mandate form. Please complete and sign it and return it to us. Alternatively you can contact the council tax service.

If you are already paying by direct Debit, your payments will be collected in accordance with the schedule shown on your bill.

Debit card

If you have a Debit Card, payment can be made using the Council's 24-hour hotline. To use this method telephone:

Please have your Debit Card details, Council Tax reference number and the amount you would like to pay ready. The Council does not accept payments via a credit card.

By post

Cheques or Postal Orders may be sent through the post to us (address available on this page).

• Cheques should be made payable to South Cambridgeshire District Council.
• When posting your payment please allow sufficient time for delivery.
• Payment must reach the Council by the instalment due dates shown on your bill.
• The Council cannot accept post-dated cheques.
• Please ensure that you quote your council tax reference number with all payments.
• A receipt will only be sent if requested and if a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed for that purpose.

Personal payment

Payments may be made at the offices of Cambridge City Council, 4 Regent Street (This link will open in a new window), Cambridge from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm on Friday.

Online payments

To pay online, go to our pay my bill section (This link will open in a new window) or type this into your web browser: www.scambs.gov.uk/paymybill

At the Post Office

You will need a plastic payment card to make payments at the Post Office. No charge is made for this service, which is only currently available to Council Tax and Rent payers. Contact the council tax service if you would like a card.

Other methods

If you wish to pay by telephone, Internet Banking, Standing Order, or at a bank or building society, please quote your reference number. The bank details required are as follows:
