Gender Equality Scheme

South Cambridgeshire District Council is fully committed to eliminating gender inequality and promoting equality between women and men. The Council has developed a new Gender Equality Scheme for 2010 - 2013, which takes account of our role as a service provider, community leader and employer. The scheme will help improve our services and policies and make sure that the different needs of men and women are better understood.

The Council's new Gender Equality Scheme 2010 - 2013 was formally adopted by Cabinet on 13 May 2010 and can be viewed below.

The scheme comes in six parts.

  • Part one provides an introduction to the Sex Discrimination Act and the Equality Act, and it's context in South Cambridgeshire.
  • Part two offers specific detail on South Cambridgeshire demography and the Council's role as a service provider, community leader and employer.
  • Part three highlights how the new scheme has been developed and commits the Council to a programme of monitoring and review.
  • Part four provides an opportunity to look back at what the Council has already done in terms of gender equality.
  • Part five discusses what the Council sees as its priorities for the next three years.
  • Part six is an ambitious action plan that sets out how the new Gender Equality Scheme will be delivered.
