Race Equality Scheme

South Cambridgeshire District Council continues to be committed to treating the whole community fairly and justly, providing equality of access to all of our services, regardless of race or background.

After a 12-week consultation exercise, on 10th September 2009, Cabinet adopted the Council's revised Race Equality Scheme.

The scheme comes in five parts.

  • Part One outlines the statutory requirements (as set out in the Race Relations Acts) and provides a context for South Cambridgeshire.
  • Part Two discusses the success of the previous Race Equality Scheme. It outlines the Council's major achievements over the last three years in eliminating unlawful discrimination and promoting good race relations.
  • Part Three demonstrates the Council's commitment to race equality, and outlines where the Council is seeking to make significant progress over the next three years.
  • Part Four provides a series of specific actions that will ensure the Council is successfully implementing the Scheme.
  • Part Five discusses the Council's arrangements for monitoring and reviewing the Scheme and it's actions.
