Community Transport

The rural district of South Cambridgeshire is made up of 105 settlements, and no towns. The nature of the district means that, for some of our residents, getting about is difficult. By and large there is a good network of public transport but accessing it is sometimes difficult for those who are elderly, disabled or isolated due to the nature and location of their accommodation.

One of the key priorities for South Cambridgeshire District Council is to develop and enable effective, appropriate, sustainable and affordable community transport that can meet the needs of such residents. Having carried out some research and undertaken some elementary mapping of the district, we have developed and are starting to implement a Community Transport Strategy which seeks to take the first steps towards a more comprehensive, needs-led approach to community transport provision.

Are you a resident who would like to be able to go somewhere you currently can't by any other means? Do you have relatives or friends who are isolated for some reason? Are you a volunteer for, or employee of, a community transport scheme that could help fill the gaps in service? If so, please visit our detailed Community Transport pages for further information.
