A new parish in South Cambridgeshire

Work to create a new community is about to bear fruit after South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) sealed an order on 25 February 2009 to create a new parish of Orchard Park from 1 April 2009.

The order, made and signed under seal by SCDC chief Executive Greg Harlock, will create the community Council of Orchard park, giving the new community (formerly known as Arbury Park) a stand-alone council.

It is hoped that elections on June 4 will see nine representatives elected to the new Community Council, which will take ownership of the community facilities at Orchard Park as they are completed.

An outline map of Impington and Orchard Park parishes and the north of Cambridge City and a more detailed map of Orchard Park Parish have been prepared.
