TRUMPINGTON MEADOWS PLANNING HISTORY

Site History

The Trumpington Meadows site was used by the Plant Breeding Institute (PBI) from 1955 for the development of new crop varieties and plant breeding technologies. The site was subsequently passed to Unilever, and in 1998 was brought by Monstanto.

  • South Cambridge District Council submits Area Action Plan for Cambridge Southern Fringe to Secretary of State

  • Trumpington Meadows Land Company submit applications to South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council for the redevelopment of the former Monstanto site
  • Cambridge City Local Plan is adopted
June 2007Independent examination into South Cambridgeshire District Council's Area Action Plan for Cambridge Southern Fringe
December 2007Trumpington Meadows Land Company submit duplicate applications to South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council for the redevelopment of the former Monstanto site
February 2008
  • Joint Development Control Committee - City Fringes resolves to grant planning permission subject to signing of S106 and condition
  • South Cambridgeshire District Council adopts Area Action Plan for Cambridge Southern Fringe
9th October 2009S106 is signed and planning permission is issued for redevelopment of the former Monstanto site
