Workability project in south Cambridgeshire
Directions Plus is a disability charity which aims to promote independence and support to children, families, carers, young people, the disabled and the elderly. They provide free and impartial information and advise on all disability issues.
At present we are running an exciting project in South Cambridgeshire which aims to reach out to recently disabled people and carers.
Many people who become disabled are often unsure of their rights to remain/return to the workforce. Directions Plus will advise and support people through this minefield. They will liaise with employers and offer people the information they need to make an informed decision. In addition, carers often feel that they are a hidden section of society, the unpaid workforce with few rights. Carers do have rights, and options.
Directions Plus can provide carers or people who have recently stopped caring for someone with the information and advise they need to choose their own pathway. For example, information on returning to the workforce, retraining opportunities, volunteering or how to gain new skills through education.
