Community and Living

The community services division coordinate the following services for the district:
Arts development
The Arts service is dedicated to developing the arts in the district for the benefit of everyone. Through work with professional arts partners, village colleges and community groups, the arts service are committed to increasing access and developing new opportunities, particularly linked to the arts and health agenda.
Community development
The role of the community development team is to facilitate communities in developing and sustaining their own projects by providing grant aid, support and advice, and by making the links to wider partnership working that provide sustainability for these projects.
Community safety
Community safety in South Cambs involves all the public agencies working with voluntary agencies as a Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership to reduce crime and the fear of crime. Geographical areas and crime types are targeted for action by task groups including vehicle crime, burglary, domestic violence, drugs and alcohol and anti-social behaviour. The partnership has a worker dedicated to working with the community reducing anti-social behaviour.
Milton Country Park
Milton Country Park has a network of paths over 2 miles in length that run throughout the area, is suitable for bicycles and wheelchairs, as well as those on foot. The site has picnic areas and play equipment, a marked trail for horse riders, as well as a programme of arts events and family activities.
Sports development
The sports service aims to create opportunities for young people, facilitate sports development and promote healthy lifestyles in the community. It works in partnership with other local authorities, groups and individuals to provide improved cultural and community services for its residents.
