Massage and special treatment licences

In some areas, a licence is required for any premises in which the following treatments are carried out - acupuncture, aromatherapy, EVR (sunbed), steam, sauna, manicure, pedicure, electrolysis, body and ear piercing, tattooing, shiatsu, reflexology, colour therapy, GS, and hydrotherapy. (Except where the premises is under the control of a medical practitioner).

However, South Cambridgeshire District Council does not currently licence this activity. Activities such as ear piercing, electrolysis, tattooing and acupuncture, and the employment of people are required to be registered.

Therapist registration - massage and special treatments

In some areas, any person working in an establishment licensed for the provision of special treatments must be registered with the council for the provision of those treatments.

However, South Cambridgeshire District Council does not currently require registration for this activity. Activities such as ear piercing, electrolysis, tattooing and acupuncture, and the employment of people are required to be registered.
